Campaigners want 'Quit' campaign for alcohol
A TOP British researcher and Australian experts have called for a "Quit" style campaign for alcohol similar to the anti-smoking one.
Sir Ian Gilmore of the University of Liverpool and researchers at Curtin University made the appeal in an opinion piece for a prominent academic journal.
They said a campaign highlighting the health effects of alcohol could help lead to support for legislation to limit its "global health burden".
They pointed to Australia's successful Quit campaign as an example of what could be done.
