Cafe launches own app amid business boom
WHEN Beck Swan opened her cafe in November, she never could have anticipated the coronavirus pandemic. But, with a loyal customer base backing her, she has adapted.
From this afternoon, Beck’s Chopping Board will take the next step, launching their very own app.
For the past five months, Ms Swan has been using the Skip app, but a suggestion from a fellow business had her excited to back herself.
“Ben Cannon from the Comm suggested I get onto EatAppy, and then when I rang them they offered me an option to launch my own app, and I jumped at the chance,” she said.
“The appeal of it is not only the savings and there being no interest, but also this means I can control the whole app myself from the back of office.”
Ms Swan said one of her favourite features of the new app was the push notifications, streamlining the process of sharing specials, deals and discounts.
“If I have daily or weekly specials, I can send those out in a push notification to everyone that has this app,” she said.
“It means it’s all in one place.
“I think it’s very exciting, I feel like this puts us a step ahead in the game.”
Ms Swan said she believed it would make the whole takeaway process easier, with no other option in the times of physical distancing rules.
“Since we opened we’ve had a lot of support, and people have continued to do that with everything going on at the moment,” she said.
“I feel very lucky, I’m very grateful for all the support because it means we can stay open and I can keep the girls on.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone for their support during this time, it means the world to me.”
You can download the Beck’s Chopping Board app from the Apple App Store or Google Play store, with the app to go live this afternoon and ready for customer use from Monday morning.
“We will do a transition and we’ll phase Skip out over two weeks,” Ms Swan said.
“There will be a coffee loyalty program, discounts and deals, and we’ll give plenty of notice to our customers.”
