Bushwalker, 67, rescued after night lost on mountain
A 67-YEAR-OLD bushwalker has been winched to safety after spending a night lost on the heavily-forested Mt Cooroora, near Pomona.
The Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was called about 11am today to help ground crews locate the man.
He had been missing since late yesterday afternoon.
"The man was located approximately two-thirds of the way up the mountain, stranded on the north face," an RACQ CareFlight spokesman said.
"Due to steep, rocky terrain, a paramedic was lowered down to the bushwalker, who was then winched back into the helicopter."
The CareFlight medical crew assessed the condition of the man on-site, before he was taken to Nambour General Hospital for further observation.
He travelled in a stable condition.
It was the helicopter's second search and rescue mission in less than 24 hours.
Crew members yesterday assisted in the search for a man overboard from a commercial ship near Fraser Island.
