THRASHING: Roma Cities dominates Battlers by 116 points
RUBGY LEAGUE: Roma Cities belted the Taroom-Wandoan Battlers by a whopping 116 points, a scoreline Cities coach Scott Hilton said he hadn't seen in his lifetime.
Sunday afternoon at Arthur Beetson Oval proved to be a bloodbath in A grade.
The blue and white legion put on a jaw-dropping performance, scoring on average, a point for every minute and 45 seconds.
It was a scoreline that exhausted even the tee-man who gained gained more metres than the players.
Hilton said the scoreline was up there with records set by the club.
"I've never seen one over 100 points, not in my time at Cities anyway," he said.
"It was very one-sided match obviously.
"It has been tough for the Battlers, it's their first year playing in the A-grade competition after playing in reserve grade for a few years so it's been a pretty steep learning curve for them unfortunately."
It's not unfamiliar for Roma Cities to punish its opponents, last year beating St George Saints 92-0.
Sunday was no exception with Cities walking into the sheds up 72-0 at half-time.
Hilton said despite the ridiculous scoreline, the boys kept their composure.
"Even thought it wasn't very hard going out there and we weren't under a lot of pressure, we still stuck to our structure and our game plan quite well, coming out of our own end," Hilton said.
"That was pleasing because it is quite easy when you're not under pressure to go off-script and throw the ball around.
"Jack just had a very good game at half-back and Thomas Barron in the centres."
The in-form Cities side will head to Mitchell this weekend to play the Magpies in what is expected to be a Saturday-night thriller.
Hilton said it would be a massive game.
"Mitchell a very strong at home and in front of their home crowd they will be very hard to beat."
