Bulls prepped for final battle against old enemy

LEAGUE: It's only fitting that the one team standing in the way of Wallumbilla-Surat's first premiership since 2013 is their old rival.

Reserves Red Bulls coach Trent Knight is weary of Roma Cities ahead of their Grand Final clash on Sunday.

Having thumped the Gladiators in the Qualifying Final, the Red Bulls already hold the psychological advantage after a dominant display two weeks ago.

"(We want our) completion rate as high as we can get it and we want good defence and line speed,” Knight said ahead the match.

"We going to have to get our big boys to wear them out so we can score tries on them.

"It's a thing we've done all year - get our big fellas to smash them in the middle and the fast guys take advantage.

"It's always been a rivalry between us and Cities - a fair few of our players are from Roma, so it's a big rivalry going.”

The Reserve Grade side are joined by the under-16s Red Bulls, who turned around a disappointing performance against Chinchilla to beat Cities in the Preliminary Final.

Knight said 2016 had been one the club's best for several years, for a number of reasons.

"It's been a really good year - we've got a lot of sponsors on board and a fair few new players which has been good,” he said.

"It's building up to be better this year.

"We've had a few coming to training and we've got a hard-working committee.”
