Bullets chase Dollar value with Beal

BASKETBALL: Brisbane has found the final piece to its NBL comeback roster with the club trumpeting the signing of two-time championship-winning guard Jermaine Beal as its second import.

After scouring the world, including the US camps, Brisbane has identified the 190cm Texas shooting specialist as the player to lead its back-court offence.

Beal (pictured), who got the nickname "Dollar” because of his ability to hit the money shot, became the first player in the NBL to hit 10 three-pointers in the 40-minute version of the game.

He was the grand final MVP in Perth's 2013-14 championship win.

Brisbane, which has put together a solid roster that includes current Boomer Cameron Bairstow, has signed Beal to a one-year deal with a one-year option.

"I'm excited to play in Brisbane. The club has a lot of history and has won NBL championships in the past,” said Beal, who knocked down more than 500 points for Perth last season.

"Hopefully our fans and the community jump on board and help us protect our home court.”

Brisbane coach Andrej Lemanis, who is currently coaching the Boomers in Rio, said Beal was a quality person and a great fit for Brisbane, being a real crowd-pleaser and good scorer.

To help replace Beal the Wildcats have signed 23-year-old athletic American centre Jameel McKay as their third and final import player.
