Bryce postpones regional visits
The Governor-General, her Excellency Quentin Bryce, has postponed her Roma and Mitchell visits.
She and her husband, his Excellency Michael Bryce AM, were due to visit the region on Sunday.
A statement from the Governor-General's office said she had pushed back her visit to let communities focus on the flood recovery.
The statement also said postponing would free up the community and military resources which would have been required to facilitate her visit.
She will be visiting the area at a later date, but the details are as yet unknown.
Despite the Governor-General's absence, a community morning tea was still held to Roma RSL Hall.
The Honourable Bruce Scott thanked everyone who had been involved in preparing the event.
"As I said to the Governor-General's private assistant last night, the best cooks in the western Queensland have been on the job for about 24 hours," Mr Scott said.
"So we'll be continuing with the morning tea but we won't be able to save you any."
