
BREAKING: Truck completely destroyed by fire south of Roma
UPDATE 5.30PM: A TRUCK carrying about 50 tonnes of barley has been completely destroyed by a fire this afternoon.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said Roma firefighters arrived at the scene at 5.10pm.
"It was a truck carrying barley and it looks as though the truck has been totally destroyed," the spokesperson said.
"The fire was in the front trailer.
"It looks as though an area of grass is on fire, approximately 20m x 20.
"Some of the barley is still on fire so crews are attempting to extinguish that at the moment."
The spokesperson believed the truck driver was found outside the vehicle when crews arrived.
The incident happened at Ballaroo, on Foyleview and Naldera Rd, about 70km south of Roma.
EARLIER: EMERGENCY services are currently racing to reports of a truck and grass on fire in Ballaroo, about 70km south of Roma.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said crews from Roma are currently on their way to the incident.
"The call came in about 10 minutes ago and that was for a truck and grass on fire," the spokesman said.
The spokesman said the incident has occurred on Foyleview and Naldera Rd.
