UPDATE 10.45AM: FIVE people are reportedly recovering in Mackay Base Hospital following an accident at Marian this morning. 

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed five people were transported. 

"Paramedics have transported five patients to Mackay Hospital in stable conditions for non-life threatening injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Anzac Ave," a spokesperson said. 

"Two patients did require QFES assistance with extrication." 

UPDATE 9AM: QUEENSLAND Police have reopened Anzac Avenue after a dramatic crash this morning. 

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services had to cut the roof of a crashed 4WD to free a woman trapped inside while a utility with a crumpled front blocked the roadway. 

The scene has now been cleared with three people transported to Mackay Base Hospital for further treatment. 

The severity of their injuries are unknown. 

UPDATE 8.25AM: FIRE CREWS have cut the roof off of a crashed 4WD to free a female driver trapped inside. 

The vehicle collided with a utility before careening through a fence and landing on its side, teetering on the edge of a retaining wall. 

The elderly woman is being treated by QAS. Her injuries are at this stage unknown. 

The male driver of the utility has been taken to Mackay Base Hospital for treatment. 

UPDATE 8.05AM: A FEMALE DRIVER remains trapped in an overturned vehicle following a crash at Marian. 

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Ambulance crews are working together to free and treat the woman. 

A male passenger was also trapped in the vehicle however he has been freed while the driver of the second vehicle involved is also out. 

Police have closed one lane of Anzac Avenue and are directing traffic through the shopping centre. 

Motorists are urged to avoid the area. 

BREAKING 7.40AM: EMERGENCY services are responding to Anzac Avenue following reports two vehicles have collided sending one careening through a fence.

Witnesses at the scene say the vehicles collided at the intersection of David Price Way and Anzac Avenue, with one vehicle on the roadway and the other through a fence and flipped on its side.

"An elderly lady, the driver, is trapped in the vehicle," the witness said.

"The male passenger of the flipped car was lying on the ground with someone stabilising his neck and the female driver stuck in the car was suffering shallow breathing.

"The male driver of the utility had cuts and scrapes and looked pretty stunned sitting there on the footpath."

Queensland fire and Emergency Services are on scene and have closed one lane.

Queensland Police and Ambulance crews are on scene.
