BoM: Flood danger not yet passed

The Bureau of Meteorology is warning of further storms and moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast throughout the Bungil Creek catchment today, which may lead to further creek rises.

The warning came as levels at Tabers and Tindarra monitoring stations started to recede after heavy rains in the catchment areas yesterday.

Tabers peaked at just over 2m at midnight while Tindarra rose to 3.5m - still well below minor flooding levels - in the early hours of the morning.

Rainfall was varied widely with the eastern part of the region copping the heaviest downpours.

Yuleba Post Office reported 102mm and said that up to 150mm was reported north of Wallumbilla.

In Wallumbilla itself the post office reported only 30mm and the official gauges at the other towns had very small totals for Tuesday.

Mitchell had 16.6mm, Injune had 14.8mm, Roma Airport reported 7mm while Surat had just 1.6mm.

Rain in the wider regions has forced a number of road closures including theWarrego Highway from Jackson to Dulacca.

Other roads closed are Jackson Wandoan Road, Roma Taroom Road and Wallumbilla South Road.

Mitchell Forest Vale Road is open with caution at World's End Creek. Please do not drive on flooded roads.
