Bogan is now officially a word in the dictionary

BOGANS, battered savs and captain's picks are among more than 6000 Australian words and phrases officially recognised in the second edition of the Australian National Dictionary.

News Corp reports that while some additions have been used in our lingo for a while, this is the first comprehensive update to the dictionary since 1988.

Former prime minister Tony Abbott (pictured) popularised phrases such as shirtfront and budgie smuggler. Other inclusions are goon of fortune, chateau cardboard, fairy bread and chocolate crackle.
