Body of woman found in car, man flees into bushland

A POLICE operation is underway at Bermagui in the Bega Valley in southern NSW following the discovery of the body of a woman in a car.

About 8.30pm, police from Far South Coast Local Area Command stopped a car on the Bermagui to Tathra Road at Cuttagee Point, Bermagui, before the driver fled into bushland.

Police conducted a search of the vehicle, where they located the body of a woman, believed to be aged in her 30s.

A crime scene has been established at the car, and a perimeter has been set up as police search for the man.

Daniella D'Addario has been reported missing.

Fairfax reports that police are understood to be investigating whether the body is that of missing Canberra woman Daniella D'Addario, 35, who was reported missing earlier this week along with Canberra man Josaia (Joey) Vosikata, 27.

Ms D'Addario's concerned family members reported her missing on Monday when they were unable to get in touch with her over the weekend.

Police said the woman had not been formally identified.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.

Initial investigations suggest the man and woman are known to each other.

Police are hoping to speak with a man who may be able to assist with inquiries. He is described as being in his late 20s, Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, with an athletic build. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.

Police advise members of the public who see the man or know his whereabouts not to approach him, but to contact 'Triple 0' immediately.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/
