THERE are all shades of green associated with Usman Khawaja.
There's the lime green of the Sydney Thunder, the baggy green of Australia and those batsman around the country who are green with envy at the skills of the Queensland Bulls captain.
Ussie is a rare talent - no doubt about that. His centuries against New Zealand and the West Indies were world class, as was his Big Bash League hundred for the Thunder that proved emphatically he had recovered from his hamstring injury.
While most of the Bulls are either enjoying a bit of a spell or a mini off-season, or are tied up with the Brisbane Heat and other BBL clubs, we have all kept an eye on the efforts of Ussie and Joe Burns with the Australian team.
It goes without saying that we're rapt for the boys. Burnsy's Boxing Day Test ton showed self-belief and mental strength, even if we sometimes shake our heads and laugh at some of the oddball thoughts that emerge from his mouth.
Usman, though, is leading the way.
I often get asked by people outside of cricket about him, especially with him being a Muslim.
I tell them that it doesn't come up much in conversation - he is quite private about his beliefs and cricket and flash cars tend to be the focus of much of our dressing-room chat.
I would expect he and Joey will go on to have big years in 2016, and as this column appears on New Year's Day, I am sure their respective resolutions will be to keep doing what has worked for them in 2015.
If you ask me what the Heat's resolutions are for this year, I reckon I can venture a collective effort to be better is on top of the list.
We're all disappointed that we are yet to get on the board in the BBL.
Chris Lynn has been superb and has his nose in front for a World T20 Cup spot if he can maintain his run of form.
One thing that has been outstanding about the BBL for the Heat has been the support from the fans.
We have enjoyed two bumper crowds so far and with the Sydney Thunder on Sunday and Adelaide Strikers next week, we are really looking forward to finishing on a high at the Gabba with two good performances to say thanks to the supporters and members who have backed us.
Happy New Year to you all.
