Bernard Tomic says sorry after ugly clash, $20 fee row
AUSTRALIAN tennis star Bernard Tomic has apologised after an ugly clash with security and staff at a Gold Coast resort during his Australian Open build up.
An RACV Royal Pines resort member revealed the country's controversy-prone No. 1 told recreational players to leave a practice court - and verbally abused intervening staff - at training last week.
The furious member also said Tomic, who has earned millions from tennis and endorsements, then baulked at paying the $20 court hire fee.
When confronted by the Gold Coast Bulletin last night, Tomic - who had been training for the Brisbane International - immediately apologised.
"I've been so focused on preparing for all my matches, I know there's no excuse for my behaviour. I didn't mean to cause any trouble and I apologise to the club members," Tomic said.
