Luck on side of baby number seven born on roadside

THEY say seven is a lucky number, and it appears that luck was on the side of Redbank Plains couple Shane and Tanarra Olsen early yesterday.

When a heavily pregnant Tanarra was awoken with stomach pains about 4.30am, she knew it was time to get to the hospital quickly.

Mr Olsen said the couple was in the car and off within half an hour.

"Tanarra woke up at 4.30am with pains and it was about 5am when we decided we should go to hospital," Mr Olsen said.

"We pulled up near the historical society building on Redbank Plains Rd there and rang for an ambulance, but Beau arrived about five minutes before they arrived."

A QAS dispatcher assisted with the delivery over the phone.

Unfortunately there were some complications with the birth and little Beau had to be rushed to hospital.

Beau experienced a problem with one of the valves in his heart, which prevented adequate oxygen from getting into the back of the organ.

The family was happy to advise that doctors had manage to stablise their seventh little bundle of joy later in the day.

He remains at the Mater Hospital.

Mum has been discharged.

"I was a bit emotional this morning but knowing that Beau is stable now, a weight has been lifted," Mr Olsen said.

Beau Douglas Olsen was born weighing a healthy 3.5kg.
