Art as Exchange is coming to Roma
INSPIRING the next generation of creative youth in the Maranoa region is the goal when Roma Cultural Centre hosts the next Art as Exchange roundtable in September.
The initiative from the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art aims to encourage thoughtful conversations among art educators in schools, galleries and studios in regional centres.
Art as Exchange showcases the benefits of annual arts events, a strong arts curriculum in schools as well as implementing relationships with Indigenous communities and local arts associations to keep rural art regions thriving.
Head of Learning at QAGOMA Terry Deen said the initiative had already been run in 17 regional councils since its introduction in 2017.
"We've observed arts education leaders in regional communities becoming more empowered to mentor, teach and build networks within and beyond their own region,” he said.
"Art as Exchange aims to inspire our youngest audiences statewide
and assist in building strong, creative arts communities.”
