Appeal raises $85,000 and rising
The 13 churches of Roma and Mitchell have united to raise money for a community in crisis.
The Maranoa Combined Christian Churches Flood Appeal aims to give flood victims individual and personalised assistance.
Reverend Linda Hamill from the United Church in Roma said the flood appeal was for anyone in the region who needs help.
"We'll visit everyone and make sure they get specifically what they need to recover from the flood," she said.
So far the appeal received at least $85,000 in donations.
Epic Energy donated $25,000 and Lutheran Church Queensland $10,000.
Santos also recently announced they would contribute $50,000 to the appeal.
Reverend Hamill said this was the third time the churches have launched an official flood committee but this time round they would need more donations than ever.
"I think in the first appeal we had $120,000 for 90 families," she said.
"This needs to be bigger because there are more people affected."
Father Scott Gunthorpe from St Paul's Anglican Church said flood victims could make applications and could receive up to $3000.
"Depending on the need of the individual or family and it's a fairly quick turnaround it's within a couple of weeks," he said.
Applications for appeal can be found at any of Roma or Mitchell's churches, the recovery centres, council offices or at Roma's donation centre.
Father Gunthorpe said all applicants' details would remain strictly confidential.
Applications for the appeal can be posted, dropped into any of Roma or Mitchell's churches or scanned and sent to stpaulsroma@bigpond.com.
