Ange linked with move to Scottish giants

ANGE Postecoglou's impending arrival in the job market has sparked more speculation over his future, with reports in England linking him to the vacancy at Scottish club Rangers.

As Postecoglou plots his side's World Cup playoff with Honduras, ESPN claims he is "interested" in succeeding Pedro Caixinha after the Portuguese was sacked last week just seven months into his tenure.

Postecoglou is widely expected to walk away from the Australian job after the second leg against Honduras next Wednesday in Sydney, and is seeking to move quickly into a club job.

He has already been linked with jobs in China, but a club like Rangers would offer a pathway into the European market - as well as pitch him against Tom Rogic in the Old Firm derby against Celtic.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has been widely trailed as the most likely replacement for Caixinha, but Rangers would have to pay some form of compensation as he is under contract.

Postecoglou has not yet resigned, but is expected to do so next week - and would be out of a job anyway if Australia was to lose on aggregate to Honduras and miss out on a place at the World Cup.

Rangers already has some degree of Australian heritage, with Dave Mitchell, Craig Moore, Kevin Muscat and Tony Vidmar having enjoyed successful spells at the club.
