Alleged synthetic cannabis drug lord refused bail

A MAN accused of  operating a million dollar synthetic drug ring through sex shops in Toowoomba, Rockhampton, Bundaberg and Mackay has lost his bid for bail.

Brisbane Magistrate John Costello a few moments ago told David Andre Jules Piccinato he was too high a risk and he will remain behind bars until his next court appearance on February 22.

Mr Piccinato, 44, is charged with a range of drug offences allegedly committed while he operated his Love Heart adult stores in Mackay, Toowoomba, Rockhampton and Bundaberg from his home in Melbourne.

Police allege he sold synthetic marijuana through his stores.

The drug has been linked to two deaths in Mackay.

If convicted, the father of two faces 16 years in jail.
