QUARANTINE: Southwest aged care home in lockdown
A RESPIRATORY virus breakout has caused a lockdown at Roma's Pinaroo Aged Care Centre.
CEO Melanie Calvert confirmed currently five residents had been affected by the virus.
"The lockdown will last eight days post the last person infected," she said.
"So at this stage the lockdown will cease next Thursday, but if we get more that will have to be extended.
"We are hopeful nobody else becomes unwell, and we are hoping we can reopen again before Christmas."
The centre is currently home to 60 residents.
The lockdown procedure means no visitors will be allowed inside. Residents can leave, however they will not be allowed back until the situation has been cleared.
"We had the same thing happen this time last year, and we reopened just before Christmas," Ms Calvert said.
