22-year-old to face court over alleged serious assault

A MAN will face court over the alleged assault of a police officer at Surfers Paradise.

Police attended a fight involving a large group in Orchid Ave about 2.35am.

"A male officer allegedly became involved in a struggle with a man during which the officer has fallen to the ground, striking his head and losing consciousness," a police statement said.

The officer, 29, was in a stable condition yesterday afternoon.

A 22-year-old Coomera man was charged with serious assault on police causing bodily harm and obstructing police.
