Slim 'stay' majority causes demonstrations in Glasgow
THOUSANDS of pro-independence supporters have rallied in the streets of Glasgow following the release of a poll that shows most Scots want to stay in Britain.
Up to 7000 people took part in the All Under One Banner march, which came a month after the UK as a whole voted to leave the European Union but Scotland opted to stay in.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon wants another vote on Scottish independence, but the YouGov poll may test her resolve.
It found 53% of respondents wanted to remain in Britain and 43% wanted Scotland to become an independent country - almost mirroring the poll figures (55% and 45%) taken before the referendum in May.
The poll found that more Scots (46%) would rather remain part of the UK outside the EU than be in an independent Scotland in the EU (37%).
