Prince Harry touches down in Australia

THE rain came and so did the fans as Prince Harry laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Canberra today.

Hundreds of royal watchers caught a fleeting glimpse of the prince as he paid his respects to the Australians who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for their country.

After landing in Sydney about 5am, Prince Harry spent a few hours in Canberra before meeting defence chief Mark Binskin.

The helicopter pilot will work with the SAS in Perth, indigenous North-West Mobile Force (NORFORCE) soldiers in the Northern Territory and Sydney's 6th Aviation Regiment during his month with the Australian Army.

"Prince Harry is tremendously looking forward to starting his four-week attachment with the ADF," a spokesman for the prince said.

Prince Harry and his father Prince Charles will visit Gallipoli for Anzac Day commemorations.
