PM remembers ‘thoroughly decent’ minister Jim Carlton

PRIME Minister Malcolm Turnbull has paid tribute to Fraser government minister Jim Carlton, who has died at age 80.

Mr Carlton was elected to the NSW seat of Mackellar in 1977 and held it until his retirement in 1994.

He served as health minister from May 1982 to March 1983.

"Most importantly, he will be remembered by those right across the political spectrum as a thoroughly decent, warm-hearted and generous person," Mr Turnbull said.
