Australians in Turkey warned after suicide bombing
AUSTRALIANS in Turkey have been warned to exercise heightened caution after the weekend's suicide bombing in Istanbul.
Five people, including the suicide bomber, were killed in the blast on Istikal St, a main shopping street, on Saturday and at least 36 were injured.
No Australians have been reported injured in the bombing.
The Australian Government advised travellers via its smarttraveller website to avoid the affected area, pay close attention to their personal security and monitor media about possible new security risks.
"We continue to advise Australians to exercise a high degree of caution in Turkey," the website warns.
